In line with TORQUE’s goal of developing quality people for the industry, we conducted
a 6 month training programme for the executives of a leading SCM company in Chennai.
The goal was to develop agents of change in the company using Lean principles by
providing appropriate instruction, training and practical experience.
The programme was designed and delivered on three areas - Being a Good Human Being,
Lean Management and Quality Management. Being a Good Human Being dealt with awareness
revolution, behavioural aspects and soft skills. Lean Management covered the principles
of the Toyota Production System with focus on waste elimination. Quality Management
involved topics such as

economics of quality, problem solving tools, statistical
process control, making quality happen, data presentation and measurement.
During the course 50% of the time was spent on real world project work at the company’s
warehouses and also involved community work for all round development of the trainees.
The projects were closely monitored by TORQUE and underwent rigorous reviews.
A team of 12 trainees underwent this programme and on completion they have all been deployed as change agents in various locations within the company.
